After care instructions
There are a couple easy steps to follow when you have Pilus hair extensions.
Shampooing at least three times every week. If you have a particularly oily scalp, then wash every other day
Use a leave in conditioner everyday if you have wavy or curly extensions
Brush all tangles from your hair before washing, using only a 100% bristle soft bristle brush
Tie hair up before you go to bed, as this will prevent tangling
Avoid permanent colour if possible on your extensions, Use only a semi-permanent colour if you intend to colour your extensions, free of ammonia or peroxide bleach
Swimming
Although Chlorine will not affect the bonding, it will dry out your extension hair. Therefore, immediately after swimming, shampoo and condition your extensions, also applying a “Leave-In” conditioner
Wavy / Curly Extensions
Please treat as though you would a perm. Do not brush wavy/curly extensions. Use only a wide toothed comb.
Conditioning
Hair conditioner: carefully massage conditioner into hair working downwards, section by section, AVOIDING BONDING AREA. Leave for up to 2 minutes.
Rinse well, again working from the top, near the scalp, to the ends. Squeeze the excess water from the hair. Do not towel dry
Combing Out
Use a de-tangling comb, or a wide tooth comb, Start to comb from the ends first, gently working upwards step by step.
Once the hair is combed out, run fingers between each connection, making sure each one is hanging separate from its neighbouring connection.
Washing
Before washing, using a pure bristle brush (not a round styling brush) gently brush out all the tangles
Keeping the hair in a downward flow, wet thoroughly, using a shower attachment over a washbasin or bath. Apply a large amount of alkaline free shampoo. Massage the scalp gently all over, paying attention especially to the nape of the neck. Do not rub the hair together as this will cause tangling and make combing out and styling very difficult. Squelch shampoo onto hair, keeping in a downward flow. When you have finished washing, flood the whole head and hair with warm water, directing the water through the hair allowing it to flow from your scalp to the ends.
Blow Drying Straight
Before blow-drying your extensions, it is a good idea to prepare and style the top section and fringe area. Then, using a cool setting on your dryer, tip your head forward and dry the root area. Once the root is dry, turn your head the right side up. Using a hot setting, blow-dry the hair section by section. Wrap hair around a bristle brush, and hold the dryer over it until the hair is dry,
To curl the ends under, a hot brush or styling tongs are recommended. Alternatively you could use a round bristle styling brush, and the dryer again, with a little hairspray.
Avoid hair conditioners or oil based styling products (wax, hair oils etc) containing oil or heavy wax. Never apply any conditioner to the thermal bonding solution area of the extension, as this result in the extensions slipping out
Avoid any reconstructive conditioners, hot oils/wax treatments, perms, permanent dyes or Henna products (including shampoo), any alkaline shampoos, as ALL of these products may create a chemical shock in your extensions, and will result in them becoming matted together, and breaking off
Avoid Wrapping your wet hair in a towel as this can cause tangling. Blot wet hair with a towel without rubbing it
Avoid direct the hot air from a blow drier, or the heat on tongs and rollers, on to the bonding area, as this will cause the bonding solution to soften, and you may lose your extensions
Excessive pulling or picking of extensions may result in your own hair breaking off
